We are all seeking sustainable solutions, especially in regard to combatting the climate crisis and reducing our carbon footprint within the complex food chain. The Mindful Fork was developed to be a collaborative collection of eco-conscious recipes with quick & easy tips, a guide to eco-friendly kitchen resources, and a welcoming, eco-minded community that can inspire more environmentally conscious decisions. With a growing synergistic team on The Mindful Fork, we will share thought-provoking articles & recipes to guide the world towards more mindful decisions from “the ground up” that will serve you and the planet well.
Through the years, clients, friends, and family would always ask Chef Cindy for advice on what food ingredients to buy, how to prepare them, and if they were healthy. She believes that everyone inherently wants to do good, but many of us are limited by time, money, and/or resources to make those positive & impactful decisions. She decided to put her energies into developing a website for all to utilize. Her goal is to share updates from “the foodie world” as a guide toward making more climate-friendly decisions. The Mindful Fork Eco-Cooking Course (in development) will be an option for those that want to enhance the skills needed to be the next generation's “eco-conscious food warriors.”
An Eco-flexitarian is a person that eats a primarily plant-based diet but will occasionally indulge in sustainably sourced meat proteins. The Eco-flexitarian is mindfully conscious of the ingredients used and their impact on the environment. The priority is to support Fairtrade, Carbon Neutral, USDA Organic, Animal Welfare Certified, and practice Regenerative Agriculture.
When exploring The Mindful Fork website, users will be inspired by the many eco-conscious choices they can make every day. They can gradually make changes in their habits that are better for the overall ecosystem. If individuals aren’t ready to completely give up meat protein, they can still make decisions beneficial to the planet.
We welcome mostly plant-based recipes but if you have a unique meat-based recipe that supports a healthy ecosystem, share it with us. We want to promote being educated, open-minded and creative toward our goals for a sustainable future.
